Schwalm embroidery, originating from the Schwalm region in Germany, combines free-motion stitching with the technique of 'pulling out woven threads and stitching them.' Traditional designs feature symmetrical arrangements of motifs such as plants, hearts, and birds, typically embroidered with white thread (Abroder embroidery thread). While this type of whitework embroidery is well-known to fans, it has often been perceived as somewhat challenging for those outside this community. In this book, we primarily use size 8 embroidery thread and offer colorful and fun designs that don't rely on symmetry, suggesting everyday usable items. The techniques are taught with just five basic stitches, making the lessons easy to follow.
