This book features cross-stitch patterns inspired by Moroccan tiles, Indonesian ikat textiles, and Islamic damask fabrics, as well as geometric designs created using Bargello embroidery.
It includes 40 cross-stitch patterns and 4 Bargello stitch patterns.
Both techniques are forms of counted-thread embroidery, in which stitches are made by counting the threads of the fabric. By carefully following the charts and stitch counts, beautiful repeating patterns gradually emerge.
The designs are delicately embroidered on 32-count and 46-count linen for cross-stitch and linen with 12 threads per centimeter for Bargello embroidery.
The book also includes examples of finished accessories and alternative color combinations. You can recreate the designs exactly as shown or customize the colors and sizes to suit your preferences.
Mosaic tiles, textiles, knitwear, and traditional crafts from West Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East offer a wealth of beautiful designs. Although these patterns are often composed of simple geometric shapes such as triangles, squares, hexagons, circles, and straight lines, their combinations create fascinating results.
One of the greatest pleasures of geometric embroidery is experimenting with colors. Even the same pattern can look completely different when stitched in a different color combination.
