Chuko is a wholesale company of sewing and handmade supplies, based in Semba, Osaka, with a history of over 100 years.
We handle a wide range of fashion, craft, and handmade materials. You can shop not only at our store in Osaka Semba, but also online. Whether in-store or online, we welcome customers from all over Japan—and even from overseas!
At Chuko, We Carry Over 60,000 Sewing and Craft Supplies
Chuko offers more than 60,000 kinds of handmade supplies.
We cover a wide range of items—such as fabrics, sewing tools, embroidery and knitting goods, accessory parts, ribbons, traditional Japanese craft materials, resin items, and many other craft materials.

Chuko’s Main Building has six floors in total, from 1F to 5F, plus the Annex, where you can enjoy shopping while seeing and touching our products in person!
You might be thinking, “Wait… isn’t a wholesale company supposed to sell products to retail stores?”
This is one of the ways Chuko is a little different from other wholesale companies.
Perfect for those who want to choose materials by seeing them in person!
Although we also sell our products to retail stores, having an actual store where customers can visit means that many different people can use our store.
People who love crafts and handmade projects, as well as store owners who come to purchase products, often visit. We also welcome craft instructors, students, and people from apparel companies who come to buy materials for sample production!

Because we have a store, you can pick up the products and check them with your own eyes before purchasing. This way, you can take your time deciding which parts or fabrics go well together while shopping. Just be careful—our wide selection might make your list of must-buy items grow before you know it!
Especially when new products are released, or when we hold demos and workshops, people often stop to watch. Being able to see the actual products, finished works, and the creative process up close might be the reason some customers come all the way to our store, even from a bit far away.

If you’ve ever visited our store, you might have noticed a scene like this: “Why is one of the staff members talking with a person in a suit?
Scenes Unique to a Long-Standing Wholesaler
In fact, some of the manufacturers we work with regularly come directly to our company to present new products or restock items!
This kind of exchange has been happening for many years, so by the time I joined the company, it already felt like a normal part of daily life.
We currently work with over 200 manufacturers, and among those with long-standing relationships, this style of communication has become so natural that business conversations often take place right in front of customers.
You might get a glimpse of what real, hands-on business looks like!
When I think about it, this isn’t something I usually see in the stores I visit personally, and I feel this is one of those unique aspects that really shows the charm of being a long-established wholesale company.
Knowledgeable Staff on Every Floor!
Thanks to the fact that sales representatives from our partner manufacturers visit us almost every day, our staff are constantly deepening their product knowledge.
Interestingly, not all of our staff were handmade enthusiasts before joining Chuko. In fact, many of them started out knowing very little about handicrafts or DIY.
That’s why they ask manufacturers lots of questions and often come up with fresh, beginner-friendly perspectives that seasoned crafters might not think of. By absorbing this knowledge directly from the experts, our staff are able to guide customers with approachable and practical advice.
We also rely on the manufacturers’ expertise to answer more technical or advanced questions from customers. Going forward, we’ll continue to strengthen these trusted partnerships so we can always respond to your needs with confidence!

One of our unique strengths is the close connection we have with our customers through our physical store. In addition to products we source from manufacturers, we also plan, design, and sell our very own original items.
Many of these products are born directly from customer feedback!
By listening closely to what our customers want, we can develop and release new items quickly and effectively.
Countless products created from customer voices! What’s more, since manufacturer representatives visit us almost every day, they often have the chance to interact directly with our customers too. Sometimes, if a customer asks a product-related question at our store, we can consult the manufacturer right there on the spot!

We put a lot of care into planning and developing our own products to perfectly match customer needs. Maybe that’s why we’ve been able to create so many original items—over 10,000 and counting!

At our physical store, we regularly host hands-on workshops and live product demonstrations!
From trying out brand-new items, to special sessions with guest craft instructors, to classes led by our own staff—our workshops come in all kinds of fun and creative styles. We provide all the materials and tools you need, so all you have to do is show up and enjoy. This beginner-friendly setup is one of the reasons our events are so popular.
Our live product demos are another favorite! Sometimes our staff leads the session, and sometimes guest instructors from manufacturers join us to share tips and techniques. It’s the perfect chance to try out a product you’ve been curious about or learn new ways to use it more effectively.
Workshops are held irregularly, and fees range from free to around 500 yen. Announcements are posted on our website and social media, so be sure to follow us for the latest updates!

Our “A Little Unique” Point 5 of 5 — Free Original Patterns Available!
Some people find the “making your own pattern” step a little troublesome when creating a project.
At our company, we provide ideas for projects using the products we sell, and these “patterns” are given for free to customers who purchase our products.
The instructions show step-by-step how to make the item, and for some patterns, templates are included. That means you can start making your project easily without having to measure and draw lines with a ruler!
We provide these patterns with the hope that handmade and craft projects will make our customers’ daily lives more enjoyable.
Even if you’ve never tried before, or think you’re not very skilled, we have simple patterns that are easy to start with!
Our original patterns are available both at our physical store and on our website.
If you see a pattern for a product you purchased or a project you want to try, just tell our staff the pattern number in the store, or add it to your cart when ordering online.
