What Is Bead Embroidery?

Bead embroidery is a type of embroidery where you sew on beads, sequins, and natural stones using a beading needle.
There are many techniques, such as stitching beads one by one or sewing several beads in a row.
It may look difficult at first, but once you get used to it, you can enjoy stitching.
In fact, bead embroidery is easy to start because the tools and materials are simple to prepare, so it is highly recommended for beginners.
First, Let’s Get the 6 Basic Materials!
①Beading Needles

Tips for Choosing
Since you pass the needle through beads many times while stitching, a flexible needle is recommended!
We have gathered needles that are easy to use, even for beginners!

If you are not sure which to choose, this is highly recommended.

Make your beads work more comfortable!
After threading the needle, flatten the eye. As it is a wire needle, it bends easily and beads can pass through smoothly!
②Beading Thread

Tips for Choosing Thread
“ONE-G,” made of 100% nylon with reduced fuzz, is convenient and recommended.
Basically, please choose a color close to your beads ◎
If you are not sure which beading thread to choose, we also have a “12-color value set” available!!
In fact, threads like sewing machine thread #60 or #90 are thin enough to pass through a beading needle.
Some people may use them as a substitute.
However, when stitching beads, repeatedly passing the needle through can cause the twisted thread to come undone.
This can make it harder to stitch beads and may cause the thread to break.
Bead embroidery threads are less likely to have these issues, so we highly recommend using “bead embroidery thread” or “beading thread”!!

Depending on the piece, some works combine bead embroidery and thread-only embroidery.
In such cases, embroidery thread is used.
④Scissors / Thread Snips

This is a necessary item for cutting beading thread and finishing your work.
⑤Embroidery Hoop

It is an essential item for “haute couture embroidery” done on fabrics like organza, but it is not necessary when stitching on felt bases or thicker fabrics.

Since it is already cut, there is no need for trimming, and you can place it directly into an embroidery hoop.
Polyester fabric has firmness, making it easy to handle even for beginners.
Silk fabric has a unique sheen, giving your finished piece a more luxurious look.
[Can Be Cut and Made into a Brooch!] Felt Base

- Product No. : A4-41~44/A4-45~48
- Size : 90×140mm
- Thickness: Approx. 1mm / 2mm
- 3 pieces included
This firm felt fabric is very easy to handle and is recommended as a base for bead embroidery and small items.
We offer two thicknesses: approximately 1 mm and 2 mm.
In fact, each thickness is suited for different uses!
1 mm thick felt is firm, so it is recommended when you want the back side to look neat after finishing.
On the other hand, 2 mm thick felt is relatively soft and can be used for bead embroidery directly.
In this case, an embroidery hoop is not necessary.
