At Nippon Chuko, you can freely combine zipper types, sizes, and colors to create a zipper made exactly to your specifications 😊

How to Place a Custom Zipper Order

When ordering a custom-made zipper, you can freely choose the type, color, and specifications to create a zipper that perfectly matches your needs.
Below, we’ll guide you through the actual ordering process step by step.
By following steps ①–⑥, even first-time customers can place an order with confidence.
1. Choose the Zipper Type

First, choose the basic zipper type.
The most suitable type depends on how the zipper will be used. For example, metal zippers are durable and commonly used for denim and outerwear; coil zippers are flexible and ideal for dresses and skirts; and Vislon® zippers are easy to handle and often used for pouches and bags.
While browsing the catalog, compare the features and intended uses of each type to select the zipper that best suits your product.

2. Decide the Length

Next, choose the length of the zipper.
The zipper length refers to the distance the slider travels—from the top stop to the bottom stop. Please note that this is not the total length of the zipper tape.
The ideal length varies depending on the application. For example:
Short lengths (around 10–20 cm) are commonly used for pouches and pockets.
Medium to long lengths (around 30–60 cm or more) are typical for garments and bags.
Extra-long zippers (1–2 meters) can also be custom-ordered for items such as sheets or tents.
Lengths can be specified in 1 cm increments, allowing you to fine-tune the size to match your finished design.
With ready-made zippers, you may have to compromise and think, “If only it were a few centimeters longer or shorter…,” but with a custom order, you can create a zipper that fits perfectly!
3. Choose the Element Color and Size

Next, select the color and size of the zipper elements.
Element colors are available in a wide range, including silver, gold, and antique finishes. Please note that available colors vary depending on the zipper type.
Then, choose the size (gauge). Common sizes include No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5—the larger the number, the bigger the elements and the more solid the overall impression.
For lightweight garments and small accessories, a slimmer No. 3 is often used. For bags and outerwear, sturdier No. 4 or No. 5 sizes are commonly chosen.
You can also focus on design details, such as color coordination with clothing or bags, or using the elements as an accent to enhance the overall look ✨
4. Choose the Opening & Closing Style

Zippers come in a variety of opening and closing styles.
Select the most suitable type based on how the final product will be used.
■Closed-End
A fixed-end zipper that does not open at the bottom.
■Top-Stop
Features two sliders that open and close from the center. Commonly used for bags and storage cases.
■Bottom-Stop
Closes from both ends toward the center. Suitable for special applications such as coveralls.
■Open-End
A zipper that separates completely into two sides. Commonly used for front-opening garments.
■Two-Way Open-End
Can be opened from both the top and bottom. Equipped with two sliders, allowing for flexible use.
5. Choose the Slider

The slider—the metal component with the pull tab that opens and closes the zipper—is an important part that affects not only the appearance, but also usability and function.
In general, the slider should match the element size you selected.
Slider specifications vary depending on the size, such as No.3, No.5, or No.8.
You can also choose the slider’s design, material, and pull shape to suit your preferences and the intended use of the product.
6. Choose the Tape Color

The tape color has a significant impact on the overall look of the zipper, making it an important point for those who want to refine the final design.
We offer a wide range of colors, from classic white and black to bright vivid shades and subtle grayish tones.
When placing your order, you can compare options using our color sample book, allowing you to choose the best match alongside your fabric and other components.
Your Custom Zipper Is Complete!

Once your order is confirmed, production begins, and your custom zipper will be completed in approximately 1.5 to 2 months.
After completion, your order will be delivered or handed over at the sales counter, or by your preferred delivery method.
Each zipper is crafted with great care, so we are confident you will be pleased with the finished result. We hope you enjoy using your one-of-a-kind zipper, created to match your specific needs and vision, in your products.
